Music is not Music-ing

Musicians, melodies and modulation 🎶

Over 6 million years of evolution. Plenty of time to make rhythms for nearly every occasion and mood. Rhythms that got you dreaming. Rhythms that got you grooving. Rhythms that got you sad-so sad you’re gazing out of the car window, picturing yourself in a music video and trying not to tear up.

Half of our lives’ charm would undoubtedly disappear if the music was not playing in the background.

Music used to be a form of self-expression. It was made to evoke emotions. An escape from our ordinary lives.

Where did it all go wrong? 🤨

All these technological advancements have butchered creative innovation. Thanks to technology, the majority of today’s artists are having hit songs without ever playing a single live gig.

An army of copycats that feed off the most well-known songs in the world like a pack of hungry vultures has emerged as a result of the Internet and the beat-selling industry.

The cherry on top is that they are able to sell their unoriginal works to similarly unimaginative individuals who wish to sing or rap over them.

The songs were reviewed and improved before being released on the market in the era of the record label, which significantly improved the calibre of the music being created.

Music is no longer an authentic form of art.

It’s being used as a marketing accessory, designed to make campaigns viral by having people across the internet dance to the most basic of steps- anything trending on the #ForYouPage.

A desire to be famous rather than pay their dues learning their craft 🤡

If you go to YouTube, you’ll find The Indian National Anthem- a slowed and reverb version. Either this is a bad joke or someone out there is missing a memo.

Instead of pushing the boundaries of music, people seem to keep going in circles. Taking old music and remixing it.

Remixing remixes of remixes.

Remixing remixes of remixed remixes.

You get the point.

Lights, Camera, No Action!

There’s a common belief that cinema is dying due to the overpriced food in the theatres. Just kidding 🤭

Going to watch movies in the Theatre was like going to church every week. It was almost a religious practice, and it was going great until there was a knock on the door. It was an OTT platform and it said “Ta Da!”

Theatres have been attempting to dodge punches from streaming platforms ever since their rise. 🥊

People are spoilt for choices when it comes to movies, thanks to OTT platforms.

Netflix has over 238 million users worldwide. Prime video catching up with 200 million. The way people consume media is evolving, thanks to shorter attention spans and a preference for binge-watching series’ instead of traditional two-hour films.

Millennials and a few of the Gen Z’s had to wait years to finish sequels. Fast forward to today, you can watch the whole Harry Potter series in one night 🙃

However, contrary to popular belief, cinema is actually evolving.

High-definition cameras, CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery), and cutting-edge sound systems have allowed filmmakers to create visually stunning and immersive experiences.

With diversity and inclusion in mind, modern-day cinema is bringing people out of their homes to support different titles.

Over the past few years, the spotlight from Hollywood has slowly spread across the globe.

From independent films to hit series streaming on OTT platforms like Netflix, South Korean films are capturing audiences around the world.

When South Korea's Parasite made history by becoming the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, it changed the course of cinema history forever ✨

Our View

In the end, cinema's evolution is a reflection of the broader shifts in society and technology. It is an art form that has proven its resilience over the decades. As long as there are stories to tell and audiences eager to watch, cinema will continue to evolve and thrive.

May all your dreams come true…..

Who would have thought?

Usually, creators are considered an essential part of promoting an upcoming movie or show. But, the power of the internet may have changed things forever. Decades ago, a typical “famous” person was someone who audiences saw in movies, TV shows and on red carpets.

However, the rise of social media has changed what it means to be a celebrity, paving the way for influencers.

Directors and producers are progressively recognizing the appeal of influencers because they bring with them a ready-made audience and the potential to boost a film's marketing efforts.

Influencers are particularly attractive to studios and filmmakers looking to connect with younger audiences as well. Their followers, often belonging to the coveted 18-34 age group, are more likely to engage with content recommended by their favourite social media personalities.

Some influencers have successfully made the leap from making content online to starring in lead roles in movies and TV series.

Notable examples include YouTuber Lilly Singh in "A Trip to Unicorn Island" and TikTok sensation Addison Rae in "He's All That." Arguably, these influencers bring their unique charisma and relatability to the big screen.

On the other hand, various critics argue that not all influencers possess the necessary acting skills to excel in cinema.

While there are challenges and criticisms associated with this shift, it's clear that influencers are here to stay in the world of cinema. As they continue to hone their acting skills and take on a variety of roles, their impact on the industry will likely thrive.
