According to traditional beliefs - after the death of a Pope, Black smoke emerging from the chimney means the world's 1.4 billion Catholics don't yet have a new pope. White smoke means the cardinals have chosen a new leader. In 2013 it took 2 days for the white smoke to be seen through the sistine chapel, but this year it took less than 24 hours.

There you go, the Catholic Church has a new Pope now - Pope Leo XIV, as the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State. Bonus (he loves pizza).
